I have a tenacious and outgoing personality that just won't quit. I am very passionate about animation and will go the extra mile to get the job done! I am a strong leader who can also take direction as part of a team. Throughout my career I have shown the ability to be self motivated, organised and very disciplined. I work well under pressure and I'm not afraid to take risks or make mistakes.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

June 2014 - Present – Lead Story Artist – Ooglies (CBeebies)

Hand drawing key animatic poses in Photoshop, creating the acting, timing and layout for each character and
episode on the new Ooglies series for CBeebies, produced by Ko Lik Films Ltd.

May 2014 - Present – Animation Director (Freelance) – Freakworks

I am currently one of Freakworks' freelance animation directors. Working primarily on commercial projects.

September 2013 – March 2014 – Senior Story Artist - Tandem Films


Hand drawing key animatic poses in Flash, creating the acting, timing and layout for each character and episode on the Bing Bunny pre-school series produced by Brown Bag Films.

May – September 2013 – Tag Games

Senior Character Animator
I was the senior character animator on a Moshi Monsters app for handheld devices. I also produced the environment concepts and 3D models for this app using 3DS Max. The app is due for release early in 2014.

Storyboard Supervisor – Sunset Song, Dir Terrence Davies
I was responsible for boarding several action shots for the live-action feature film 'Sunset Song', (currently inpre-production) Directed by Terrence Davies.

Director/Art Director - Marketing Edinburgh, (The Leith Agency)
This animation was produced at ink.digital for The Leith Agency on behalf of Marketing Edinburgh to promote Edinburgh as a winter destination. I was responsible for the overall concepts, character designs, look development, storyboard/animatic, BG artwork and 3D layout. The overall concept was to generate 2D artwork and animation, that would be lit and rendered using Maya. This is a 30 second part of a larger 2 minute film, due for release later this year.

Director/Art Director - ESPC Marketing (Flock)
This animation was produced at ink.digital for Flock on behalf of ESPC, Edinburgh. As Director I worked closely with the client creating the overall style and feel of the spot. I was responsible for the creation of the character and environment designs, storyboard & animatic as well as the compositing.

Director/Art Director/Animator – CR Smith 'CR Smith sponsorship ads', (STV Creative)
This animation is part of CR Smith's sponsorship of the national weather shown on ITV produced at ink.digital in Dundee. As the Director I worked directly with the client creating the overall style and feel of the spot. I was responsible for the creation of the character and environment designs, as well as the compositing and final renders.

Director /Art Director/Animator – Scottish Government 'DAS – Debt Arrangement Scheme', (The Leith Agency)
This animation is part of the Scottish Government's ‘DAS - Debt Arrangement Scheme', produced at ink.digital in Dundee. As Director I worked directly with the client creating the overall style and feel of the spot. I was responsible for ensuring the quality of animation met with client specifications and made sure the advert was delivered on time and budget.

Animator - Scottish Government 'Ready for Winter', (STV Creative)
This animation is part of the Scottish Government's ‘Ready for Winter' campaign, produced at ink.digital in Dundee. I was responsible for animating the dog using Autodesk Maya. I also modelled the props used in the animation.

Animation Director - Scotrail ‘A Better Way to Go’, (The Leith Agency)
As Animation Director I worked directly with the client creating a style of animation that worked seamlessly with the live action We used a hand drawn technique composited using After Effects.

Director/3D animator - 'I heart Union Square', (The Big Picture)
Using a range of 2D and 3D animation as well as live action footage my role as director consisted of working directly with the client, generating ideas and concepts. I creatively managed the ink team, ensuring the overall consistency and style met with client specifications, schedule and budget.

Director – Cartoon Network Lego Star Wars web-drive, (Turner Media)
I was asked to direct two web-drives for Cartoon Network, commissioned by Turner Media. These web-drives were made to showcase the new range of Lego Star Wars toys for Summer 2011. We used the stop-motion technique composited using After Effects.

Supervising Animator - Irn Bru 'Make your Summer Phenomenal' , (The Leith Agency)
I was responsible for producing layouts and key animation. As 2D Supervisor I briefed and creatively managed our animation / clean-up team, whilst ensuring the consistency of the advert both in terms of animation and visual style.

Animator - Irn Bru sponsorship idents for Sky Sports, (The Leith Agency)
My brief was to animate realistic CG characters performing rugby moves and tackles as specified by the client. The animation was produced using Autodesk Maya.


June 2010 – December 2010 – ink.digital
Supervising Animator - 'Titeuf: le film' Pathé International Pictures, (Neomis Animation)
Titeuf is an extremely successful comic and TV series in France. Ink.digital were asked to produce animation, clean-up and inbetweening for Neomis Animation's feature version of this series. I was responsible for taking animation briefs from the Directors and briefing our animation team of 15 people. Creatively responsible for ensuring the acting, performance and animation was consistent with client specifications. My role as supervising animator also included daily communication with the client, dealing with both creative and schedule issues.


February 2010 – April 2010 – ink.digital
Co-Director - Scottish Government 'Knife Crime', (The Leith Agency)
The animated internet viral was part of the Scottish government's ‘No Knives Better Lives' campaign. We used a stop motion technique of filming stills of graffiti animation painted on walls. I was responsible for directing the animation both at the studio and on location.
This won the award for 'CRAFT: Use of Animation' at the Scottish Advertising Awards 2010 as well as being awarded a commendation in the category of 'DIGITAL: Viral'. This was also a finalist in the 2012 BAA awards, in the stop-motion category.

January 2010 – February 2010 – ink.digital

Co - 2D Supervisor - ‘The Illusionist’ Pathé International Pictures, (Django Films)
Ink.digital were used as an outsourcing unit for key clean-up and inbetweening on the Oscar nominated animated feature ‘The Illusionist’ directed by Sylvain Chomet. My duties included training of the In-between/Clean Up staff at ink.digital. I worked in Seoul for three months supervising two Korean animation studios to which we were outsourcing both Clean Up and In-betweeing work.


2005 – 2006 - freelance
Assistant Animator - Scottish Government
On the strength of the work I produced for 'The Loch Ness Kelpie' Iain Gardner commissioned me to work with him as assistant animator on several adverts including the ‘See Me’ campaign and Help the Aged for the Scottish Government and the courtroom 'sketchy' avert for Quantum Claims.


2003 –2004 – Farne Salmon & Trout Ltd

I was responsible for seven staff members and their duties. This includes generating life dating for all smoked salmon products, printing labels and packaging.

Key Animator/Clean-up Artist – 'The Loch Ness Kelpie' (S4C/Channel 4), (Red Kite Animation)
The Loch Ness Kelpie’ Directed by Iain Gardner was broadcast as part of The Animated Tales of the World, commissioned by S4C and Channel 4.
